"The
Word
Has Not Failed #2":
those who think sin is negative doubt the power of God's Word; but the
gospel is the power of God for salvation to all who believe; those who
demand signs and wonders are also denying the effectiveness of God's
Word.
"The
Doctrine
of the Two Israels":
this doctrine has been taught from the beginning; for the children of
the flesh are not the children of God; rather, the children of the
Spirit are the children of promise.
"Which
Purpose Stands?": in
order that we might be saved, God stresses that His purpose stands; and
the purpose which stands is particularly God's purpose according to
election; and God's election is revealed emphatically to have nothing
to do with anything He foresaw we would do in our lifetimes.
Sermons on the Book of Daniel
"The
Tyrant's Confession":
the context of the confession: the resistance of the three friends; the
cause of the confession: revelation; the meaning of the confession:
salvation; the identity of the One confessed: the Son of God.
"The
4th Test: Who is Sovereign?":
the unexpected author of this God-glorifying chapter: the king; the
king tries to manipulate the message of God's sovereignty to reflect
positively on himself; but in the long run the king is compelled to
acknowledge that God is sovereign.
"The
Revelation
to Nebuchadnezzar":
the revelation meant in part that the king was the lowest of men; the
revelation also meant in part that the Most High God was speaking to
the lowest of men; the ultimate point of the revelation was that God
commanded the king to repent because the Most High God rules in the
affairs of men.

from Romans, continued.
"More
Than
Conquerors": if
sin did not separate us from the love of Christ, how shall any other
thing? Since nothing can separate us from His love, we are
exceedingly more than conquerors; ways we are more than conquerors
through faith.
"No
Separation
-
Ever!":
why we should be persuaded of this absolute certainty; a detailed
enumeration of what created realities cannot separate us from God's
love, for they are all His creations.
"But
What
About
Israel?":
Isrealites made the Gospel Israel-centered instead of God-centered; the
rejection of Israel is the biggest apparent hindrance to assurance of
salvation by God's faithfulness; nevertheless, we should have deep
compassion for and a great desire for their salvation, for from them is
the salvation of the world.
"Israel's
Abundant
Blessings":
adoption, the glory, the covenants, the gift of the Law for the purpose
of enabling worship, the promises, from whom according to the flesh is
the divine Christ.
"The
Word
Has Not Failed":
questioning the truth & effectiveness of God's Word started in
God's paradise; instead of criticizing the unbelieving ingrates, people
criticize God's Word as though it had failed; man's word uselessly
exalts man, God's Word effectively humbles man.

Daniel,

"The
Kingdom
of
the
Latter
Days":
man's wisdom cannot reveal the king's secret, only the God of heaven
can do that, and He reveals what will be; what will be is the kingdom
of the latter days, a worldwide spiritual kingdom of the New Covenant;
this kingdom of the latter days would enter the world from beyond and
endure forever; no man can stop or hinder its progress.
"The
Interpretation
of
the
Revealed
Secret":
Nebuchadnezzar has temporarily received a kingdom from the God of
heaven; but his kingdom and all world kingdoms will give way before the
one truly universal and eternal kingdom of the God of heaven.
"The
3rd
Test:
Shall
We Bow Down?":
Nebuchadnezzar the tyrant oversteps his authority by ruling religion;
God requires all people to resist the tyranny by refusing to bow before
the image; what is at stake is God's glory which may not be dulled by a
golden image.
"The
3rd
Test:
Shall
We Bow Down? #2":
the command to bow down is an unauthorized demand for absolute loyalty
to a mere man; the one who issues the command deifies himself and tries
to terrify with the sanction of death; but God's people are free to
walk within the boundaries of His revealed will.
"The
Revelation
of the Son of God":
is always a surprise that takes place in the context of conflict; there
are two powers that rulers may not ever take for themselves: the rule
of religion and the power over life itself; when the government
commands false worship, it must be resisted even to the point of death.
